Hey, it’s Terry here, sitting out on the back deck writing this newsletter while my 5 year grandson catches fish in the pond. 🐟👦🏽

School holidays can be a tough time for working parents, I’m sure my kids still have PTSD from going to school holiday care. But you do what you have to do to pay the bills 🫰

If you know a small business who needs help with their bookkeeping and/or needs some business support, please tell them about me, I’d be most grateful. My website is qwertyplus.com.au, check it out if you like. I’m also on Facebook. Thanks in advance! 🙏🏼

In this week’s issue:

  • Are you giving your wrists and eyes a hard time at work? Sit properly!

  • ATO and data matching - what does it know about you? 🙈🙉🙊

  • Excel - Quick way to remove duplicate values

  • Word - Easily move text up or down without having to cut and paste

  • Xero - who’s accessing your file?? 🤷🏽‍♀️🥸

TECHNOLOGY

👯‍♀️Excel - remove duplicates

In the top menu go to Data → Remove Duplicates → clean data in seconds.

Remove the duplicate blue and green cells

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
🚚Word - move text up/down row by row
  1. Highlight your text
  2. Press Shift + alt keys
  3. Press up or down arrows to move the text
Works with bullet points too.
Shift + Alt keys then up/down arrow
Xero - who’s got access to your file?
You might get a shock when you see a long list of people who have accessed your Xero file, mostly from your accountants firm but the list could include past employees of your business. Accountants give access to whoever is working on your file at that time but they often change every year and Accountants aren’t good at removing employees who don’t access your file anymore.
✂️To fix this and keep your file tidy, click on your business name at the top left, Settings / Users.
If an employee hasn’t accessed your file for two years or more, click on the 3 dots on the right of their name and delete.
👩🏽‍💻 Ergonomics in the workplace
If you’re sitting at a desk all day, your setup matters more than you think. Poor ergonomics doesn’t just cause aches and pains — it chips away at your focus, energy, and productivity over time.
The basics (that most people get wrong)
  • Screen at eye level – no more looking down at your laptop
  • Feet flat on the floor – or use a footrest
  • Elbows at 90° – relaxed, not reaching
  • Wrists straight – not bent up or down
🚨 Why it matters
  • Reduces neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • Prevents long-term injuries (think RSI)
  • Helps you stay focused for longer
🧠 Quick wins you can do today
  • Raise your monitor with a couple of books
  • Use a separate keyboard and mouse
  • Set a timer to stand/stretch every 30–60 mins
  • Adjust your chair before blaming your back 😅
  • Follow the sit and stand positions below!
WEDNESDAY VIBES
Non-productive but 100% boss-approved (maybe)
The “I’ll just check one thing” trap
You opened your laptop to send one quick email… and somehow ended up checking the weather, your bank account, and whether you should start a herb garden. Productivity? Questionable. Commitment to random life admin? Elite.
Before you go…
